The Gas and Wood NFI certification review and exam will be taught by Rocky Mountain Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Executive Director Larry Grogan. The review classes and exams will be at the Energy Distribution Systems (EDS) office at 1824 W. Alexander, Salt Lake City, UT 84119 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Lunch will be included, and classroom space and lunch are courtesy of EDS.

    • August 16: Wood Review Class and Exam, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    • August 17: Gas Review and Exam, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    Registration Options

    • Wood Review and Exam Package (Member) – $429/(Non-member) - $673.50
    • Gas Review and Exam Package (Member) – $429/(Non-member) - $673.50
    • Wood and Gas Review and Exam Package (Member)-$858/(Non-member) - $1347

*Price includes manual, on-line review, in-person review, and the exam.

We need to get at least five students per class to offer the review class. I will contact each student if that does not happen. Please bring a lap top to the exam so you may take the exam online and you will get your results before you leave. If you can’t, then you will be given a paper exam and it will take about a week to two weeks to get your results. For those not taking the on-line exam, please bring a calculator to help you with the math problems. You will not be allowed to use your cell phone. Those taking the online exam will have a calculator built into the exam protocol.

If you have more than one person who needs to be certified, then the best deal is to join as a company, and any of your team gets the member price.

You will need to enter your HPBA member ID number to get the member price. Once one has been signed up, it will take about a week for the manual to arrive.

If you have any questions, concerns, information concerning membership or the class, or need other options to get NFI certified, please contact Larry Grogan at rmhpba@outlook.com or 480-772-2169. You can also contact Larry if you have questions concerning pricing for other options such as retesting, exams only, etc.

Upon completion, and with a passing grade, candidates will receive NFI Certification credentials, including ID cards with photograph and listing on the NFI website. Certificates are good for three years and, with appropriate CEU’s earned, can be renewed indefinitely. Candidates who do not earn the required CEU’s for renewal have the opportunity to retest at a reduced cost.

    Certification options
