About Us

The Rocky Mountain Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (RMHPBA), an independent trade association, has been lighting the way for its members since Jan. 11, 2002.

RMHPBA represents and advocates for members in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, and is an affiliate of the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA). It works to promote and protect  the hearth, patio and barbecue industries in the Rocky Mountain Region by providing regional services and events, educational opportunities, and monitoring local, state, and regional regulatory and legislative issues.

Membership is open to hearth, patio and/or hearth-related businesses. As an RMHPBA member, professionals receive reciprocal membership in HPBA at no additional cost.

The general membership elects a Board of Directors who is comprised of various membership categories. The Board governs RMHPBA in partnership with staff and HPBA.

History

The HPBA began promoting the interests of the hearth, patio and barbecue industries and its members in 1980. Today, it has more than 12 independent trade associations across the United States and Canada working together to ensure the needs of our industries are represented and protected at a state, local and federal level now and into the future.

In 2002, the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming became an affiliate of the HPBA forming the Rocky Mountain Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association.

In October 2020, the Arizona Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association and RMHPBA Board of Directors voted to merge Arizona members into RMHPBA. The AHPBA was first formed in 1994 and was active in the HPBA both as a group and as individuals. The merge was approved by HPBA in December 2020 and went into effect Jan. 1, 2021.
